Bygones

Crocheted Doilies, Plaster Bird, Mannequin Base

Because I see almost everything as raw material for potential art projects, I end up with collections of many differing random items, in this case, a variety of doilies.

Then the question always arises: what shall I do with those and I begin to look around my
studio to see how things can begin to be amalgamated into one surprising and satisfying object.

In the case of Bygones, the Soundsuits of Nick Cave came to mind, which I have long admired.
So another question was posed, What if I put all of those doilies on that mannequin, what
would happen?  In a sense, it is a pastiche of another artist's idea, made hopefully,
with my own inspired twist.
